While Ignacio is known for its Ute, Anglo and Hispanic cultures, the annual Cultures Coming Together fair sponsored by the Ignacio School District shows that even more peoples settled in Southwest Colorado and have made it home. Several families and community volunteers assembled booths for the event on April 11, displaying their African, Slovakian, French, Irish and German ancestry. Also attending were groups who discussed hunting culture, as well as the Old Spanish Trail, railroad art, and the rodeo lifestyle. The fair was held at Sky Ute Casino.

Nate Hendren, a third-grade student at IES, helped his uncle display his Navajo artwork, as well as share his experiences as a working cowboy. Nate showed Kris White how ropers use their equipment, below right.
