Bayfield All-Stars, PRYB thank community

The Pine River Youth Baseball Little League and our 9-10 Bayfield All-Stars would like to thank all of our supporters this year for a wonderful season of baseball and helping our All Star team travel to the state Little League tournament in Grand Junction last month.

We were extremely successful in getting our tournament donations, which we only had two weeks to raise! Our parents and coaches used the donations to pay for food, gas and two night's lodging for 14 families to attend the tournament.

Many members of our community stepped forward to help with this large undertaking. We tried to be as thorough as we could in tracking our donations, but if we missed you, we apologize!

Our donors included: Crossfire LLC, the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, Pine River Youth Baseball, Southwest Ag, Lewis True Value Mercantile, Kurt and Terri Will, Pine River Times, Pine River Valley Bank, LPEA, First National Bank of Durango, Bayfield Chamber of Commerce, Durango Herald, Valley Feed, McDonald's of Durango, AJ's Pizza, Western View Windows, Dena and Phillip Abold, Niel Hieb, Sharkstooth Construction, Pawsh Pet Salon, Kyle and Codi Guilliams, Dr. Preston Knight and staff, Pam Orr of Haircrafters, Rich's Performance Marine, Coca Cola of Durango, Dean Reeves CPA, Erin Candeleria, A to Z Electric, employees of Xcel Energy, Pine River Chiropractic, Alert Traffic Control, Susan Ward, Non Stop Enterprises, Cynthia Percell, Autocrafters, John Stone, Pine Valley Barber, Marilou Bellino, Quality House Interiors, Susan Ross, Mesa Mobile Park, Brenda and David Yarina, Wells Group, Jay Lynch and Associates, Justin Osborn of the Wells Group, Herman C. Barnes, Alex Juarez, Phyllis Ludwig, Barbara Sammons, Peter Berriman, Seth and Melissa Malone, Janie Herrera, Tom Malizzo, Integrity Heating and Cooling, Pinnacle Surveying, Bayfield Chiropractic, See-Through Glass, Bayfield Animal Hospital, Sparkle Glass, Pine River Pawn, and several anonymous donors.

Thank you to the businesses that let us put our change jars on your counters: Wells Liquor, The Grocery Store, Baked, Alta Convenience and Mini Merc.

Finally, we had a lot of help and donations for our spaghetti dinner from Subway of Durango, Bayfield Liquor, The Grocery Store, Upper East Side Liquor, Bayfield Lions Club, Dennis Baxter, and lots of current and past Pine River Youth Baseball parents!

A special thank you goes to Robert and Melanie Mazur for stepping up and organizing the fundraising efforts and beating the streets with the kids for donations. This would not have been as successful without you. Thank you to coaches Mike Wood, Tom Au, and Adam Tucson for their time and dedication to this team over the past month.

Although we did not do as well as we hoped in Grand Junction, our boys played hard and learned a lot about the level of play at a state tournament. And they really loved the swimming pool at the Quality Inn!

As one of our parents was checking out of our motel Monday, she said she hoped our group didn't make too much noise. The manager said the boys had been very well behaved. We believe we represented Bayfield and Ignacio well in the big city!

Thank you again for all of your support.

Kennie Monger, president, Pine River Youth Baseball
