La Plata County Farm Bureau honors Brown, thanks Talley

On Aug. 22, La Plata County Farm Bureau members held their annual meeting at the Bar D Chuckwagon in Durango, with more than 95 members attending. During their annual meeting, La Plata County Farm Bureau announced they donated $546 to the La Plata County 4-H Club from funds raised at their La Plata County Fair pancake breakfast. They also named Jean Brown as Member of the Year.

As the meeting concluded, La Plata County Farm Bureau President Tom Talley announced he was stepping down after seven years of service as county President. As a result, La Plata County Farm Bureau named Jesse Lasater as President for 2014-2015.

The La Plata County Farm Bureau is an independent, non-governmental, voluntary organization focused on the preservation and promotion of local agriculture. They meet the third Wednesday of every month at the Lavenia McCoy Public Library in Bayfield. Be sure to stop by and see their booth at Bayfield Heritage Days.
