June Siner

June Ellen Siner,  87, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, in Durango. A funeral service was held Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, at the Pine Valley Church in Bayfield. The Rev. Scott Kujath officiated. A committal service followed at Pine River Cemetery in Bayfield.

 June was born Sept. 4, 1927, in Lynwood, Calif., the daughter of Rupert and Opal Winters.  She grew up in Lynwood and eventually met Wayne Siner on Valentine's Day in Los Angeles at a church function.  They were married three months later on Sept. 29, 1946 at the East Los Angeles Four Square Church.

Though June worked in various careers, her primary occupation that she excelled at was a mom and homemaker. June was a baker at the Whittier School District. Church and her faith in God were integral parts of June's life. She taught Sunday School, sang duets with Wayne, sang in the church choir and many other duties and activities.

Later in life she traveled to Bayfield and moved here Sept. 3, in time to celebrate her 87th birthday.

 She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Wayne Siner of Bayfield; children Linda Shaw of Bayfield and Doug Siner of Napa, Calif.; and granddaughters Molly Gullion, Jodi Wenzel, Tiffany Waldrop, Sara Siner and Elizabeth Siner; seven great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family.

 She was preceded in death by two sons and a brother.
