County Road 309A closed due to gas leak

County Road 309A is closed Tuesday due to a gas line rupture in the area.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, Williams Gas Company personnel notified the La Plata County Office of Emergency Management they detected a small leak in the 3600 block of County Road 309A in their 30-inch natural gas line southeast of the Williams plant on County Road 307. The leak was located at an underground crossing about 4,000 feet north of County Road 310. Williams personnel on scene executed their emergency shutdown procedures. Pressure on the line and at the plant was relieved.

Heavy equipment is onsite and repairs have begun.

Closure of County Road 309A in the 3600 block will occur when excavation begins under the road. Crews will work Monday night and Tuesday to repair the line.

Drivers using CR 309A should seek alternate routes. No evacuations have been made at this time.
