If Black Friday crowds aren't appealing, but if you still want to get some Christmas shopping done next weekend, there are lots of local options available.

Lewis True Value Mercantile opens at 7 a.m. on Nov. 28 and has specials on various items.

Santa Claus will be at Lewis True Value Mercantile from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 6 and 13.

In Gem Village, local merchants are organizing "Holiday in the Village" for Nov. 28 and 29.

The event includes horse wagon rides, visits from Santa at Grasshoppers from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and caroling by Bayfield High School students.

The participating merchants are offering sales and specials. They are Studio Sellke, Southwest Ag, The Billy Goat Saloon, Road House Pizza -n- Wings, Village Junction Antiques, Valley Feed and Ranch, and Serendipity Antiques.

Donations for the Bayfield Food Bank also are being accepted at Studio Sellke, the Billy Goat, and Valley Feed. Pine River Valley Bank has made a generous donation to the food bank to start the food drive.

Studio Sellke will open at 7 a.m. Friday and offer 10 to 20 percent off statues and select merchandise. For more information, call Karrie at Studio Sellke at 884-0565.
