Ignacio school collects 1,389 food items

The Ignacio Elementary School Sharing Tree collected a whopping 1,389 cans and boxes of food for the holidays. The food will be distributed to families by the Southern Ute Community Action Program and Ignacio Head Start. Members of the Mt. Allison Go Getters transported the food from IES to SUCAP this week for a community service project. Moriah Ashley, a second grader at IES, helped load up the food. The class in each grade that collected the most items earned a Popsicle party, and the third grade, which collected the most items overall, earned an extra recess for their hard work.
