BHS grad competes at national cheer competition

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Colorado Mesa University coed cheer team competed Jan. 17 in the Universal Cheerleaders Association college national competition. The Mavericks came away with a second place finish, just behind Wilmington University and ahead of NCAA South Central region rival Midwestern State.

Cayli Meyers, a graduate of Bayfield High School, is a CMU senior and member of the team. She is studying nursing at CMU, located in Grand Junction. Last season, the Mavericks placed third at the National Championships. The Maverick cheerleaders will perform during basketball games as the spring semester begins at CMU.
