Got stocks?

Using hypothetical money, Bayfield Elementary School fifth-grade students participated in the statewide Stock Market Experience, sponsored by the Colorado Council for Economic Education. Three Bayfield teams placed first, second and third for the southern region of the state in the statewide contest.

Taking first were Caleb Lake and Tyler Callaway. The second place team was made up of Keyton Cugnini, Kobe Prior and Caleb Donelan.

Third in the region was Aidyn Abdallah-Boehm and Jamaica Garza. The southern region of the state has 60 schools participating in the program.

The students' teacher is Mary Lynne Herr.

The winning stocks for the teams, according to the students, were Yahoo, the New York Times, and FedEx.

Some of their less successful picks were Google, facebook and Wal-Mart.
