Summer food assistance available

The Family Center's Bayfield office and community members from Pine River Shares are extending the BK4K (Bayfield Kids for Kids) Snackpack Project through the summer thanks to the community's very generous donations. The Summer Food Project offers a free supply of nutritious meals and snacks for adults and/or children each week beginning June 4th and going through July 30th.

Bags of food are available to Bayfield Family Center Summer Campers to take home anytime after 1 p.m. on Thursdays throughout the summer. Bags may also be delivered to Forest Lake families between 10 and 12 on Thursdays at the Forest Lakes Recreation Center or to Vallecito families by appointment throughout the summer. Community members may request additional food support from the Family Center's Bayfield office at 357 N. Mountain View Drive on Thursdays between 12-4pm. Any child and/or adult may receive these weekly bags of food.

Backpacks or bags must be returned to the site you received it from each week to be refilled.

If you or your child/ren could benefit from this program, we encourage you to sign them up by completing the form and give it to the Family Center Summer Camp staff or return it to the Bayfield Family Center at 357 N. Mountain View Dr. Suite 104, Bayfield, CO 81122. Only one form is needed per household, but please include information for every individual. This information is kept confidential and shared only with the project staff. Once your household's paperwork is received, you will receive bags/backpacks of food each week until you no longer wish to participate. Opt-out forms will be placed in the BK4K bag each week. If you are unable to pick up your bag of food please call the Bayfield Family Center to make other arrangements.

We encourage you to take advantage of this program for your family and your children.

Questions or concerns? Please contact the Family Center/Pine River Shares at 884-4747 to speak with project staff.
