Prepare to have some fun on July 4

And July 2 and July 3!
Members of the American Legion show their red, white and blue on a 4th of July float in Bayfield.

Independence Day festivities in the Pine River Valley are spread out this year over three days, but that gives folks a chance to celebrate multiple times!

After a hiatus of a few years, the Independence Day parade is returning in Arboles, this year on Thursday, July 2. Parade line-up is at 3 p.m. on Willard Way behind the Piedra Peak Cafe, with the event starting at 4 p.m. Warning: in previous years, this parade features A LOT of water guns, water hoses, and in general, WATER. So prepare to get wet! Most of the participants are heading to Navajo Reservoir anyway.

On Friday, July 3, Vallecito will host its fireworks show over the lake. The show starts at dusk, usually about 9 p.m.

Vallecito's annual arts and crafts fair will be Saturday and Sunday in the field below the dam.
