Options for eating out in Bayfield have been reduced this week.

The B Diner has a sign on its door saying that due to a problem with the lease, it is not open at this time.

The diner served breakfast and burgers for lunch seven days a week. The owners were contacted to comment, but haven't returned calls at this time.

Bayfield's sole fast-food joint, A&W-Long John Silvers, closed its doors, but a new replacement is coming.

Michelle Nelson, owner of Mini Merc and the restaurant space, is leasing the site to Tim Sapa of Bayfield.

"We're going to have burgers and ice cream, more of a mom-and-pop burger and maltshop joint," said Sapa, who has owned the Dairy Queen in Durango for 12 years. He wants a place where families and kids can spend some time together, and he's expanding the selection of ice cream available.

Sapa took over the lease on Thursday and plans to re-open in October.

And finally, Hong's Garden is closed for two weeks, but that is for the owners to go visit family in China. The restaurant is scheduled to re-open Oct. 16.
