Bayfield School District asking residents to take survey about building plans

During the late 1990s and early 2000s, the Bayfield School District experienced a significant increase in enrollment and was forced to move its kindergarten and first grade classes to an aging facility with added modular buildings. Over the past several years we have once again experienced increased growth at the primary school and have overextended the site's capacity. Our current K-5 student population is approximately 650 students which is much larger than our current facilities can reasonably handle.

For the past six months, Bayfield School District has been working with a design advisory committee comprised of district officials, community members, architects/engineers and technical advisors to develop preliminary site and building plans for future elementary school programming. Initial plans would include building a new 3-5 school; remodeling the current Bayfield Elementary School (BES) to accommodate K-2 classes and address parent drop-off issues. Please go to the following link and take a short survey regarding different scenarios the school district is considering.

The survey will be open through Friday, Feb. 5 and is available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/bsdbondsurvey2016
