After a trip to a national meet last year, Bayfield High School Knowledge Bowl is continuing its winning tradition.
The varsity team took second Saturday at the Southwest Regional Knowledge Bowl Meet, hosted at BHS.
The team of Mitchell McCloskey, Justin Nickerson, Colton Stumpf, and Jessica Weinmeister now qualify for the state meet March March 14-15 at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins.
"The kids did a great job keeping up with an incredible Ouray team," Coach Tara Henderson said. "The team of Kaya Lines, Sam Kundrick, and Chandler Jackson also did well. Please congratulate them when you see them."
Henderson extends a thank you to Jerry Brush, Tim Stumpf, Carrie Bergfalk, Dianne Milner, Roxanne Henderson, Rex and Tara Howard for reading for the meet. She also thanked Gary Maestas, Frankie Turner, Fred Edwards, Taylor Morris and Jade Sanders for helping with scores and timing.
"A tremendous thank you to Curtis Gillespie and SkillsUSA for the beautiful plaques," she added.
