Vollert will be considered homeless until he finds a place to live
Edward Vollert

William Ed Vollert, 28, who was previously convicted of sexual assault and attempted sexual assault on a child, will be released and returned to Durango on Monday by the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) after meeting all parole conditions, according to a news release from the La Plata County Sheriff's Office.

Vollert's current address will be listed as "homeless" until he finds residence in La Plata County. Vollert is described a white male; five feet five inches tall, weighing 150 pounds with blond hair, blue eyes. He has extensive tattoos on his chest, arms, back, and a tear drop on his right face cheek.

Vollert was 20 when he had sex with a 14-year-old girl. He pleaded guilty to attempted sexual assault on a child and was classified as a sexually violent predator based on a psychological evaluation.

In April of 2015, Vollert was living near Bayfield and was arrested for violating his parole.

There are currently 18,630 registered sex offenders in Colorado with 179 in La Plata County.

"Use of this information to harass, threaten, or intimidate the offender, the offenders significant others, or the community notification team will not be tolerated and could result in charges against those who attempt to do so," the sheriff department wrote in the release. This information is released simply for public awareness.

Anyone who may have questions or information regarding Vollert can contact his supervising CDOC Parole Officer Tina Beekman at (800) 426-9143 or Deputy Cyrus Nabors with La Plata Sheriff's Office at 382-7069.
