Capturing images

BHS class thanks local photographer for sharing work

When you've captured thousands of images of kids and their activities over the years, where do you display it all?

The Bayfield High School class of 2015 decided to create two cases upstairs at the high school to display the work of local photographer Brian Capalbo. The case has already displayed a few seasons of Capalbo's work this school year.

A plaque near the cases reads:

"Brian Capalbo

Thank you for over 25 years of service and for the thousands of pictures you have taken and given to the students of Bayfield High School.

-Class of 2015"

Capalbo said he was honored to be remembered by the class. He's been photographing athletes in and around Bayfield for 23 years.

"It's my hobby," he explained. "I've probably photographed every sport around here." That's included rodeo, polo, kayaking and mountain biking.

The exception is skiing, since he doesn't get up on the slopes much.

In addition to local high schools, he's photographed athletes at Fort Lewis College. During the season, he gives the coaches and kids a stack of prints.

"I have a book of my high school and Little League pictures," Capalbo said. "I like to try to give that to everybody else."
