BMS hosts league track championship

7 win league titles

Bayfield Middle School hosted the area mid school league championships this year on May 5 at Wolverine Stadium.

"We had a great season this year with an overwhelming number of league champions," said Mark Pommier, BMS track coach.

For the girls' team, Emma Candeleria set a school record and took a league championship in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.5 seconds.

The boys' champions are:

.Dylan Hilliker, who took a league championship and school record in the long jump at 18 feet 11 inches. He also ran the 110 hurdles in 16.34 seconds, the 100 meter dash in 11.78 seconds and was a member of the 4x100 meter relay team, which won with a time of 49.75 seconds. That set a new school and league record.

. Josh Kaufmann is the league champ in shotput with a throw of 37 feet, discus at 120 feet, and was on the 4x100 team.

. Dawson French is the league champ in high jump at 5 feet 2 inches and was on the 4x100 relay. He also ran on the league champ 4x200 relay team, which ran in 1:52.14 min.

. James Mottin ran on both winning relay teams.

.Dylan Vroman and Crosby Edwards ran in the 4x200 relay.

Other champions from the Encore Meet in Cortez include Shane Moore in high jump and 800-meter run; Preston Hoover in shotput; Ethan Cook in long jump; Jacob Lister in hurdles; Rylan Ross in the 1600 meter run; and Taylor Muhle in discus.
