Downtown block party is a hit in Bayfield

Summer events set for July 21, Aug. 25 on Mill Street

Bayfield's Mill Street was a happenin' place June 23. The town's first Bayfield Block Party seemed to be a great success, with perfect summer weather, good live music, and a crowd that stayed through the evening until the main band, Million Dollar Highway, shut down at almost 9 p.m.

Several Farmers Market vendors were there with their local produce or crafts, along with several community service groups such as Be FRANK, Pine River Shares, Pine River Rotary Club, and Upper Pine Fire. The Mill Street restaurants were very busy. Visitors seemed to be enjoying a mellow evening together.

The next Mill Street block party will be July 21 with the band Sky Pilot on stage. The third block party will be Aug. 25 with Hello Dollface playing.

The sentiment Thursday evening was that the next block party will be bigger and better. The block parties are sponsored by the town, Pine River Library. KSUT, Duck Girl Art, Bottom Shelf Brewery, and Lewis True Value Mercantile.
