Country singer Cale Tyson playing Buckley Park June 30

Outlaw country singer playing for new generation
Fort Worth musician Cale Tyson plays Thursday at Buckley Park in Durango.

Old school, outlaw country for a new generation of country fans comes to the Alpine Bank-Community Concert Hall free "Concerts @ the Park" series at Durango's Buckley Park, Thursday, June 30. Cale Tyson takes the stage from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Based in Nashville, Tyson hails from Fort Worth, the home of Townes Van Zant and where Tyson first heard the classic country sounds that have inspired and enriched his gentle, melancholy and undeniably whiskey-soaked sound.

Tyson released his debut EP High On Lonesome in 2013, with his music showcased on CMT.com and in Songwriter Magazine. He's been featured as one of PolicyMic's "9 Real Country Music Stars of Our Generation," and identified by Rolling Stone as one of the "10 New Country Artists You Need To Know."

Noted Wide Open Country, "His sweet, yet melancholy lyrics feel like they were probably written on a whiskey-stained bar napkin, just the way good country songs should be."

Designed to make live music more accessible to a broader community audience, the "Concerts @ the Park" shows require no tickets and offer a family-friendly environment for enjoying a diverse music line-up. Concertgoers are asked to bring their own chairs or blankets, as seating is not provided. Fired Up Pizzeria and Schlotzsky's will offer food for sale at the park, and picnics are welcome.

Buckley Park is located in the 1200 block of Main Ave. (between 12th and 13th Streets) on the north end of Durango's historic downtown.

The 2016 "Concerts @ The Park" schedule continues in coming weeks with:
