Dancing Spirit hosting concert by Lipbone Redding

Lipbone Redding performs Saturday at Dancing Spirit in Ignacio.

Lipbone Redding performs Saturday in Ignacio in a fundraiser for Dancing Spirit Community Arts Center.

The event starts at 3 p.m. with a free kids' workshop with face painting, balloon twisting and belly dancing.

Denny Finn and One Lane Highway will open the concert for headliner Redding. The show ends at 7 p.m.

A native of North Carolina who now lives in New York City, Redding performs about 200 shows a year around the world, primarily solo with his guitar and lips, which have been called better at playing trombone than some trombone players.

Saturday's event costs $10 for adults, children 12 and under attend for free.

The fundraiser will help support the center's community arts programs, including its summer program.

Art classes are held from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The cost is $10 per child, with scholarships available.

Dancing spirit is located in the ELHI Community Center inside the old Ignacio Elementary School. More information is at 563-4600.
