Where's Waldo the Moose?

Our new moose is still hanging around Bayfield Roadside Park, and Mike Milner captured this image on June 24.

No, the cow moose that has shown up in Bayfield Roadside Park isn't overly lonely, and she doesn't need to be transported out of the area.

That's the official word from Colorado Parks and Wildlife, courtesy of spokesman Joe Lewandowski. Some locals have been asking online if she should be moved.

"Moose regularly disperse from other areas and they have been seen in Animas Valley, the Pine River Valley, Silverton, the Pagosa Springs area, etc." Lewandowski said. "We've had other photos of this moose, and it looks healthy. It's likely that it will move on and hopefully be found by a bull in the fall during the mating season.? People should view it from a distance and leave their dogs at home. Moose view dogs as threats and will go after them."

The first photograph of this girl was shared with the Times on June 13, also in Roadside Park. She - or another moose perhaps - also has been seen along County Road 510. On Facebook, locals are starting to call her Waldo because she keeps appearing and disappearing and people are trying to get a glimpse of her.
