Entries are due today for the first annual brisket cook-off sponsored by Farmer's Fresh Market in Ignacio.

Team setup starts at 5 p.m. Friday, July 29. Cooking can begin anytime after that.

No security for the pits will be provided by Farmer's Fresh.

Entries are due at the store today and are available at the store or www.farmersfreshco.com.

Judging will be done by a panel of judges. First prize will be awarded a trophy and a $200 Farmer's Fresh gift card. There will also be a "People's Choice" award of a $50 Farmer's Fresh gift card. The general public will be given the opportunity to purchase tickets to sample brisket from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 30. Votes will be tallied by Farmer's Fresh staff and winners will be announced at 4:00pm. Each team will bring their own smoker/grill and necessary equipment to prepare brisket and chicken thighs, which will be provided by Farmers Fresh.
