Art of summer on display

Bayfield artist donates piece to library

Who knew that taking old road signs and adding paint, leaves and flowers would create art?

Dianne Bishop Milner uses them to craft her floral and wildlife-themed creations.

Her works are on display at Pine River Public Library, and she donated a large piece, "Signs of Summer," to the library. It's now hanging on the east exterior wall of the building.

"Thank you for supporting my habit," Milner joked to a crowd of well-wishers at an artist's reception on Sunday.

Many people know Milner as a friend, teacher and neighbor, said Brenda Marshall, a library employee who offered a toast at Sunday's event.

Milner's art brings summer indoors during long Colorado winters, "and it's brought us so much happiness and joy," Marshall said.

Milner can be reached at Dianne's Art House at 946-5987.
