Towns hosting Christmas festivals this weekend

Ignacio's community Christmas gathering will be Friday, Dec. 2, starting with a light parade at 5:30 p.m. on Goddard Avenue, follwed by activities at the ELHI Community Center downtown in the old elementary school building. Light parade participants should line up at 4:30 at the high school. Activities at the ELHI will include photos with Santa, a holiday gift bazaar, gingerbread house decorating competition, tree lighting, horse drawn carriage rides, and more.

Also Friday evening, Dancing Spirit Community Arts Center will host its annual Fill Your Bowl for Art event from 5 to 8 p.m. Soup and bread is available for $10 per person, or $15 with a hand-made pottery bowl. Santa will be visiting, and One Lane Highway will perform. The arts center is located in the Ignacio ELHI building.

There are two weekend events Saturday in Bayfield.

Friends of the Pine River Public Library will hold its winter book sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3. There also will be a bake sale and silent art auction. Teen and children books are free and books for adults are available by donation. All proceeds are used to support programming at the library.

Bayfield's Old-Fashioned Christmas Party is set for 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3 in the old middle school gym. The event includes photos with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, stocking giveaways, ornament decoration, face painting and bouncy house. There will be free red and green chili, cookies, nachos, popcorn and a hot chocolate bar. Non-perishable food donations can be exchanged for raffle tickets, or tickets are $2 each. Donations will be used for the Bayfield Food Bank.
