IES students turn principals into sundaes

To encourage positive behavior in school, Ignacio Elementary School principals agreed to be turned into human sundaes on Monday, with students pouring chocolate and strawberry sauce, whipped cream and toppings on them.

"It was a reward for the kids," said Assistant Principal Willie Machallister, who said children in each grade who performed well in attendance, academics and behavior for the entire trimester got to participate. That came out of 190 students, or 52 percent of the school's pupils. Both Machallister and Principal Kathy Herrera donned sweats and eye protection for the event and sat in a kiddie pool for the students to make their creations.

How sticky was it?

Machallister said it took about half an hour in the shower and lots of scrubbing to get all of the gooey stuff off.
