Wednesday, Dec. 26

7:46 a.m.: A snowplow hit a parked vehicle on the 800 block of E. Third St.

9:04 a.m.: A man in custody at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park S., was served a warrant for his arrest.

10:24 a.m.: Two vehicles sustained minor damage in a collision on the 300 block of E. Main St. A vehicle attempted to merge to the inside lane and hit the other vehicle’s front bumper.

3:55 p.m.: A vehicle failed to yield at the stop sign at E. Third St. and S. Maple St. and hit the front side of another vehicle, causing moderate damage to both.

8:55 p.m.: A man was arrested at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., for domestic violence and third-degree assault. Witnesses say the man dragged his wife of nine years down an aisle and punched her in the face with a fist. An officer observed bruising and swelling on her left cheek.

9:02 p.m.: A man reported a hit-and-run on his Ford F-150 pickup parked on the 100 block of W. Main St. The pickup’s mirror was bent.

Thursday, Dec. 27

2:17 a.m.: A driver crashed in the 900 block of E. Seventh St. The driver spoke Spanish as a first language and mentioned his immigration status. He was arrested on charges of DUI and reckless driving.

4:32 a.m.: A vehicle hit a flashing pedestrian sign at Stratton Drive and S. Broadway.

10:38 p.m.: Several intoxicated men caused problems in the alley at Bridge Emergency Shelter, 24 N. Chestnut St. One had blood on his face. A second was arrested for disturbing the peace, open container and resisting arrest.

11:50 p.m.: A man driving an Audi with expired license plates registered to a Toyota station wagon was cited in the 10 block of S. Ash St. for displaying expired plates, displaying fictitious plates, driving without insurance and driving without a license. He provided a title showing he bought the Audi from Cortez Cash Pawn and Trade.

Friday, Dec. 28

10:05 a.m.: The driver of a Chevrolet Cruze collided with a Chevrolet Silverado while attempting to turn into Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. Damage was minimal; no citations were issued.

11:32 a.m.: A man reported an accident at Harrison St. and Main St. He said a white car slid through the red light and hit the left rear wheel of his Jeep. There were no suspects. Roads were icy.

12:12 p.m.: A driver hit a vehicle in the Walmart parking lot, 1835 E. Main St. No one was cited.

6:57 p.m.: An intoxicated man sitting on a toilet with the door open at City Market, 508 E. Main St., was arrested for trespass.

8:37 p.m.: A driver of a blue Chevrolet pickup was cited for DUI in the 10 block of S. Linden St. He was cooperative and apologetic and was released to a friend.

11:13 p.m.: A man at Oak Meadows Mobile Home Park, 405 W. Seventh St., was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear.

Saturday, Dec. 29

2:20 a.m.: A man reported a hit-and-run on a light pole in the Safeway parking lot, 1580 E. Main St., after a white flatbed pickup was doing donuts. The vehicle was not located.

3:44 p.m.: A man was cited for shoplifting a jacket and sunglasses at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St.

8:55 p.m.: A man driving with a defective headlight in the 300 block of W. Third St. was cited for failure to stop when signaled by police and for driving without insurance.

9:21 p.m.: A man seeking entrance to the Bridge Emergency Shelter, 24 N. Chestnut St., was arrested on a warrant.

Monday, Dec. 31

3:19 p.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant at the Cortez Welcome Center, 928 E. Main St.

7:22 p.m.: An intoxicated woman causing a disturbance at the Bridge Emergency Shelter, 24 N. Chestnut St., was arrested for violating an alcohol-related protection order. She was combative during the drive to the Montezuma County Detention Center.

7:47 p.m.: Three vehicles were involved in a crash in the 1400 block of S. Broadway. One vehicle collided with a vehicle after sliding on ice. The second vehicle was pushed into a third vehicle.

9:53 p.m.: An intoxicated man sleeping on a bench at Montezuma Park, 5 W. Montezuma Ave., was arrested on a charge of second-degree assault for elbowing an EMT who attempted to provide medical care. When the EMT attempted to lift him, the man struck the EMT’s radio, which jammed into her ribs, injuring a rib.

Tuesday, Jan. 1

9:13 a.m.: Two men were arrested for trespassing at City Market, 508 E. Main St. The two men were trespassed indefinitely from City Market in 2014. They were intoxicated in the parking lot, and one of the men was unable to stand or sign his name. One of them said he was just trying to stay warm.

3:53 p.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant outside City Market, 508 E. Main St. While driving to Montezuma County Detention Center, he spit multiple times on the vehicle cage and on equipment in the vehicle.

4:17 p.m.: An intoxicated man refused to leave City Market, 508 E. Main St., as requested by a City Market employee. Two officers helped the man to his feet toward the exit, but he still refused to leave. He was arrested for trespass and taken to Montezuma County Detention Center.

Wednesday, Jan. 2

12:04 a.m.: A driver in the 600 block of E. Seventh St. stopped an “unusual” distance from a red light. An officer pulled up behind him, and the man lawfully turned left. The officer activated her emergency light to initiate a stop. The driver, who was wearing sunglasses at night, was arrested on two warrants.
