tickets on sale Monday
Tickets will go on sale for the La Plata-Archuleta
Cattlemen’s Association annual banquet on Monday.
Tickets will be available at Basin Co-op in Durango,
Pine River Valley Bank in Bayfield, Well Fargo Bank in
Ignacio, and Boot Hill in Pagosa Springs.
The Banquet will be held on April 20, 2013 at the Sky
Ute Event Center in Ignacio. The social hour will begin
at 6 p.m., followed by a prime rib buffet at 7p.m. After
a short program, music by the High Rollers and dancing
In addition to a silent auction, the La Plata County
CowBelles will be giving away two brand quilts. One
will be given away through the raffle process and the
other will go to the highest bidder in a live auction.
Money raised supports both the Cattlemen and Cow-
Belles’ scholarship programs as well as other agricultural
activities. Currently there are 10 area students receiving
scholarships sponsored by the associations. For more

Library hosting Bayfield
Chamber of Commerce
The Bayfield Area Chamber of Commerce will meet
at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 28 at Pine River Public
Library. The chamber welcomes all area business people
and residents to its monthly meetings.
The April meeting is at noon on Thursday, April 18,
at Bayfield High School. Lunch will be served by BHS
catering students. Todd Demko of the Alternative Board
will speak on business planning strategies. Lunch costs
$10 for the April meeting, and RSVPs are required by e-

Calvary hosting services
for Holy Week
Calvary Presbyterian Church welcomes everyone to
services for Holy Week,
Palm Sunday services are this week at 10 a.m. Maundy
Thursday services start with a soup supper at 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, followed by a worship service.
On Easter Sunday, a potluck breakfast will be held at
8:30 a.m., with worship at 10 a.m.

Mt. Allison Grange hosting
annual Easter supper
Mt. Allison Grange members are hosting their annual
Easter supper from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 30. The
menu is ham, turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and
gravy, green beans, hot rolls, tossed salad, homemade
pie, coffee, and punch. Tickets are $10.50 for adults,
$4.00 for children, and children under 6 eat free. Contact

Ignacio Schools Relay For
Life Dance coming in April
Ignacio Schools Relay for Life Team will host their
fifth annual Family Dance on April 12.
Everyone is invited to come dance with D.J. Oscar
Cosio from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Ignacio Elementary Gym.
There will be a bake sale and the chance to design a
luminaria for any loved ones who have battled cancer.
The luminarias will be displayed at the Relay for Life
event on June 28.

Bayfield Parent Leadership
Network to meet Tuesday
The Bayfield Parent Leadership Network will meet
from 5 to 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 26 at the Pine River
Public Library. Supper and childcare are provided.
The group is meeting about local issues impacting
families. Topics include a community meeting on keep-
ing children safe, a food drive, and community garden.
The network is part of the La Plata Family Centers

Pickling class to
be held in Arboles
Archuleta County Extension will have a pickling class
from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday in the upper room of the TARA
Center at 333 Milton Lane in Arboles. Supplies will be
furnished and participants will go home with their own
pickling project! Call Pat Everett at 883-7711 to reserve

next month. Teams are for 3-to-4-year-olds through eighth
rade. Practice starts April 8-12, with games beginning

Colorado Parks and Wildlife hunting and fishing li-
censes are on sale now for the 2013-14 seasons at retail
outlets, at parks and wildlife offices and on-line. The
deadline for applying for big game limited licenses is
April 2. Anglers are reminded that they must have a
new license byApril 1. License buyers between the ages
of 18-64 also must buy a $10 Colorado Habitat Stamp.
Money collected from stamp purchases is used to pre-
serve and protect wildlife habitat throughout the state.
Purchase of any hunting or fishing license also includes
a search and rescue fee. Now is also a good time to buy
a Colorado State Parks pass. A pass, good for entry at
42 state parks, costs $70 and is good for a year from the
