Shearer Creek Fire (Near Lemon Reservoir) estimated at six to eight acres 10/2/2012 By: PRT Staff
Ten San Juan Hotshots have joined firefighters working on the Shearer Creek Fire in the San Juan National Forest about three miles west of Lemon Reservoir. The fire is estimated at six to eight acres in size and is located three and a half miles north of Florida Road; another smaller fire in the same area has been contained. The fire is not threatening any structures. Thirty two firefighters from the U.S. Forest Service, Upper Pine River Fire Protection District and Durango Fire and Rescue are on scene. A Type 3 helicopter is making water drops. The fire was reported Sunday night and was started by lightning.
