Wolverine Football remains undefeated
11/3/2012 By: Times staff report

The Bayfield High School football team remains undefeated in their bid for state.
The Wolverines scored early in the game against Trinidad Saturday afternoon, with a touch down followed by the extra point, but Trinidad answered back with with a touchdown of their own. They followed up with a second touch down but missed out on their extra point with a failed 2 point conversion, putting the score at 12-7 Trinidad at the half.
The BHS fans were a little worried in the second half of the game with Trinidad holding onto the the lead throughout the third quarter, but the Wolverines were having nothing of that. Drake Rhodes caught a 14-yard pass early in the fourth quarter for a touch down, and then scored on the two-point conversion with a pass from Allec Rodriguez bring the score to 15 to 12. Another touch down via Anthony Chamblee in the bottom of the fourth cinched it for the Wolverines. No extra point, but the touchdown cinched the score of 21 - 12 for the Wolverines! Tune in for next week's game against Faith Christian at home at Wolverine Country Stadium. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. (an hour earlier than last week's game.)

BHS girls win smashing regional
Blowing through three teams in nine sets that really weren't even close, the BHS Wolverine girls are the regional champs in 3A volleyball!
Now the girls are making their fifth trip to state in five years.
Taking the tournament in straight games was a surprise even for the Wolverines, who only lost two matches this year, both to 4A Piedra Vista.
"We were really strong in our starts," said senior Jen Phelps. "That got us going and gave us an adrenaline rush for the rest of the games."
Phelps cried after winning her final at-home game of the year.
"It feels good!" she said.
The Times will post the state bracket as soon as it becomes available.

In 2A action in Telluride, the Lady Volleycats lost their first match to Telluride. They then won two games against Meeker, but lost the final three and were out of the tournament.
