 IHS, BHS girls play in regionals today

The Ignacio Bobcat girls cheer as they win their league trophy on March 2.
The Ignacio Bobcats will play on a home court, sort of, Friday and Saturday in the 2A Region 3 tournament. Ignacio will host the tournaments at Durango High School. The Bobcat girls start play at 4 p.m. Friday against Sanford, followed by the boys at 5:30 p.m. against Paonia.
The winners of those games advance to the regional championships on Saturday, with the girls playing at 1 p.m. and the boys at 2:30 in the DHS gym. Also playing in the girls' bracket are Paonia and Del Norte, while Lutheran and Sargent play in the boys tournament.
The Bayfield girls persevered to get a regional game as well. They travel to Trinidad on Friday to take on the 18-4 Trinidad Miners. The Bayfield girls are 10-12 and defeated Alamosa 45-38 on Saturday, earning them a shot at the regional tourney.
