 Dream big: BMS wrestlers win league by 113 points

Bayfield Middle School wrestlers had big dreams for League Championships last weekend, but they outdid even their expectations!! BMS competed in 13 weights. BMS won 11 of those weights and in the two they did not win, they placed 2nd. The Wolverines also won the team championship, beating the second-place Cortez team by more than 113 points!!
Bayfield racked up a total of 248 points over Cortez's 134.5 points. Pagosa Springs placed 3rd with 129 points while Miller placed 4th and Escalante placed 5th.
The Wolverines who won League Champion titles were Jake Sandrey, Cody Speece, Tyler Connor, Wes Rayburn, Gus Roberts, Wes Herring, Ryan Nava, Chris Kane, Edward Ashcraft, Will Maniss, and Bryce Johnson. Garrett Beebe and Chance Gottfried placed second in their weights.
The team finishes the full season undefeated. Team members Chris Kane, Edward Ashcraft, and Bryce Johnson finish their individual seasons undefeated as well.
Most BMS team members will compete at Regionals in Alamosa on Monday, March 25. For those who qualify from their placing at Regionals, they will compete in State in Denver, Colorado on March 29-31. Good Luck Wolverines!!
