7/7/2013 By: Times staff report
Here is Saturday night's report from the interagency fire dispatch:
Southwest Colorado continues to pick up new lightning starts. There have been three reported on Southern Ute lands near Arboles, two southwest of Pagosa Springs, and one over near Blanco, east of Hwy. 84. A few firefighters also went down to northern New Mexico to help with a small start on BLM lands.
However, the Rimrock fire, reported on July 5, was located on the east side of Vallecito Reservoir. Firefighters got that fire contained this morning at 11:15, but have not yet called it controlled. Early evening, dispatch also received a report of a smoke in the Purgatory ski area; firefighters will check it out on Sunday.
To report a fire on public lands, please contact the Durango Interagency Fire Dispatch Center at 385-1324 or call 911.
