Sheriff's deputies search Mark Redwine's house
8/16/2013 By: Times staff report
La Plata County Sheriff's Office, with assistance from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), served a search warrant at Mark Redwine's home north of Vallecito reservoir on Wednesday.
The search was part of an on-going investigation.
The Sheriff's Office has no comment and will have no comment regarding what was taken during the execution of the search warrant nor regarding the nature of Wednesday's search.
The search warrant was sealed by a judge.
Sheriff's spokesman Dan Bender said, "As we have stated in the past, we have not labeled anyone as a suspect in this case. Due to the active nature of this criminal investigation we have no further comments."
Mark Redwine is the father of 13-year-old Dylan Redwine, who was reported missing on Nov. 19 last year by his mother, who lives north of Colorado Springs. Dylan had flown to Durango on Nov. 18 for a court-ordered Thanksgiving visit with his father.
Community volunteers mounted searches right after Dylan disappeared, and law enforcement searched Mark Redwine's house on Nov. 29 and removed various items.
Many more searches were conducted in following months along local roads and on Vallecito reservoir.
Some of Dylan's clothing and physical remains were found up Middle Mountain Road in late June during an intense law enforcement search along the road.
That search involved about 45 people from law enforcement, search and rescue, fire and rescue, and other agencies.
Teams of searchers negotiated steep drainages with extensive ground cover as they looked for clues, Bender said then. Sectors were treated as possible crime scenes. At times, the searchers were almost shoulder-to-shoulder as they moved up and down the difficult terrain, he said.
They worked more than 1,600 man-hours during the five-day search. The day after it ended, Bender said reported that the CBI had identified human remains and had identified them as Dylanís.
