Ignacio school directors held their first meeting in the new administration building on Dec. 12.
The old wrestling/ fine arts building just west of the high school has been totally re-made into administrative offices, the board meeting room, and warehouse space.
Itís part of the $50 million in school construction and renovation approved by voters in 2011.
Board members held a ceremonial ribbon cutting, and then Superintendent Rocco Fuschetto gave a tour of the office area before the board meeting.
The office fronts are transparent glass. In the center of the office area is a conference room with all glass walls.
The board room has a large video screen behind the dais, and a flat screen monitor mounted on each side wall. Board members and administrators got a tutorial in how to work the video and sound controls.
This new equipment could make it possible to do video streaming of board meetings.
Fuschetto noted that the meeting room and adjoining kitchen will be available for community use.
Al Cloud represented the Southern Ute Tribal Chairman and Council in congratulating the district on the new facilities.
