Springtime brings alpacas out 5/4/2007 By: Carole McWilliams
Alpacas, native to the Andes, are among the many types of animals at LaBoca Ranch south of Ignacio. They are smaller cousins to llamas, which the ranch also has. The ranch was featured in the Times’ special section on local food production earlier this year. It is now a research center for sustainable agriculture. The llamas and alpacas, raised mainly for their wool, honor the interest of the ranch’s longtime owner, the late Roy Craig.
