Ready to rumble! Bikers returning for Ignacio Bike Week

After 15 years of hearing tens of thousands of motorcycles rumble through the Four Corners over Labor Day weekend, the sounds coming from Shoshone Park in Ignacio this Saturday might surprise you. Ignacio Bike Week is again holding its Community Kids Rally, and what you hear will be the sound of children’s laughter as they have their own kind of fun separate from the adults.
Among the many events this year will be the popular Copper Mine, where kids dig through a huge pile of sawdust for pennies and other coins, which they get to keep.
Back again is the popular sumo wrestling, where the kids wear inflatable sumo wrestler suits and try to bump each other out of the ring.

For all things mechanical, a Pit Row has been set up at the south end of town, where Saturday’s biker events and biker bull riding will be held. At Pit Row, bikers can get their bikes dynotuned, pin striped and decked out with LED lights. There will also be a professional photographer ready to take portraits of bikers on their favorite ride. Oil changes and tire repair will be available, as well.
Food vendors of all kinds are more spread out this year because of increased participation. Vendors on Goddard Avenue will sell barbeque, pizza, fajitas, Thai food, burgers, shaved ice, roasted corn and hog-on-a-log.
Two beer tents are in place to keep thirst at bay. The main beer tent will have free, live music every afternoon until 11 p.m. Coffee and
With the usual attractions of a motorcycle rally, organizers of Ignacio Bike Week also hope to get a lot of kids involved this Saturday morning at the Community Kids Rally in Shoshone Park.
