Father’s home searched Thursday
11/1/2912 By: Melanie Mazur

Search still continuing in Vallecito

The Dylan Redwine Taskforce has grown to 50 members of the FBI, Colorado Bureau of Investigation, La Plata County Sheriff’s Office, Bayfield Marshal’s Office, and Durango Police Department.
The task force includes crime analysts from the FBI and sheriff’s office.
On Thursday, task force member searched the home of his father, Mark Redwine, on CR 500.
“We are still not calling Mark a suspect,” Sheriff’s Lt. Dan Bender said in a telephone interview Thursday. “However, since the last place Dylan was seen was his father’s house, it’s only prudent for us to search the house.”
The task force was formed Monday and starting at the dam, has moved north through Vallecito trying to check every building in the Vallecito area, “and that’s hundreds of buildings,” Bender said.
Dylan Redwine, 13, flew into the La Plata County Airport on Sunday, Nov. 18 for a court-ordered visit with his father. He texted friends that night. Mark Redwine said he got up Monday morning to run errands and left Dylan at home, and he was gone when he returned. He reported him missing on the afternoon of Monday, Nov. 19.
There have been no clues or confirmed sightings of Dylan since Sunday night, Bender said, and such a lack of leads is unusual.
“That’s what’s made it such a frustrating case,” Bender said. “We had to check every single possibility.”
On Wednesday, the task force officially ruled out that he was a runaway because of the amount of time he has been gone — 11 days as of yesterday, and because he has not been in contact with any of his friends or his parents. Like most 13-year-olds, “he was a prolific texter,” Bender said.
“We do know he reached La Plata County,” Bender said. Beyond that, there isn’t much.
On Sunday, Nov. 25, when Dylan was supposed to return to Colorado Springs to his mother’s, his family had hoped that somehow, Dylan would return.
When he didn’t, Dylan’s mother, Elaine Redwine, and his brother, Cory, were devastated, according to family friends.
Up to 100 people per day searched Thanksgiving weekend throughout Vallecito and Forest Lakes. The search has been reported in Denver, Albuquerque, Colorado Springs, and on Wednesday on the Nancy Grace show on the Headline News network.
A Find Missing Dylan Redwine facebook page now has 2,757 friends. On Tuesday, a community vigil attracted about 150 people in Bayfield.
An account to help fund search efforts has been established at Wells Fargo. Donations can be made at any branch.
